The Heart and Character of the Father

Judges 10:11-16

11 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, 12 the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites[a] oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands?

13 But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you.

14 Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

15 But the Israelites said to the LORD, “We have sinned. Do with us whatever you think best, but please rescue us now.”

16 Then they got rid of the foreign gods among them and served the LORD. And he could bear Israel’s misery no longer. (NIV)

This morning during my study time these scriptures spoke very loudly to me about the heart and character of the Father. Nothing moves the heart of God like a broken spirit and a contrite heart.

It is at this moment that we realize what a mess we have made of our lives. When we decide to let go, of all that we think we are and the why me spirit we have just given God the room to work in us.

It is at that moment that we lay down our pride and look towards the Cross where there was no pride to be found.

Pride is what got Satan kicked out of Heaven!

A broken Savior on the Cross is the only way for sinful man to enter through the gates to the streets of gold where we get to worship the “Great I am”

If you are reading this please and you don’t know Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior please don’t let the sun go down on this day without accepting His sacrifice, He is waiting and wants eternal fellowship with you! He loves you so much and sees what you have been through and what you will go through!

Servant Leadership

In ministry you are called into a life of a servant  leader.  Jesus told us in His word that Jesus came to minister and not to be ministered to.  How is that many today have we lost that mind set?

Servant leadership is leadership that is born out of love.  This love is the same love that hung Christ on the Cross. This is the same love that kept Christ on the Cross.   There is no room in the heart of a servant for pride.  A servant never says “Will you serve me”?  A servant says “How may I serve you”  Christ on the Cross says I came to serve and not to be served.

Jesus told His Disciples not to lord their positions like the gentiles.  Christ said that He is meek in Spirit.  Meek in Spirit does not lord.  Christ was born in a manager and had no place to call home.  Ministers you must not lord your position over those that you serve.   Let those who minister do so with a fair hand and out of love for God.

Capernaum

If Sodom had seen the miracles that Capernaum had she would have repented and not been destroyed.
Capernaum loved the miracles but not the one who performed those miracles. Jesus called them to repentance but by and far the people refused.
It is not any different today people receive healings and blessings and yet still refuse to bend their knee and heart to Jesus and turn away from the world that only promises pain and heartbreak.
My prayer is that we would not fall into that trap. Lets us receive the healings and blessings of the Lord but never let us forget the one that gave it all for us.
